Reseña del libro

Not only as a city of shipyard surrounded by gigantic cranes, but also as a city with a beautiful port of the U.S. Navy and Japan Self-Defense Forces, Sasebo has developed rapidly with the modernization of Japan in the late 1900s. This is the 4th photobook of Sasebo-born photographer Osamu Matsuo published through the Sasebo Project launched in 2007.The aim of this project is to re-acknowledge the charm of the town from journalistic perspectives, rather than from photographic ones. The theme of this 4th release is "17-year-old Sasebo teenagers in 2017." There are 79 portraits of 17-year-old teenagers in this photobook lingering on the streets of the town where tangled alleys of a hilly city are exclusively unique. They are today's youngsters, of course, but somehow look timeless and universal under the effects of nostalgic black-and-white background.
