The author says: "The paint of Pedro Berruguete, entitled 'Santo Domingo presides over a auto of faith' and that is in the Prado Museum in Madrid, always struck my attention. It was, every time I saw him, as if I feel an old pain. The Inquisition reminds us a black page in our history. And we can not bury our heads in the sand. It was terrible. Without palliatives. And many times we have asked forgiveness for that great error to force the consciences and seeking to impose the truth. But I thought I needed something more to ask for forgiveness. So I write about the historical truth. I wanted to face the harsh truth. And the painting was an excellent opportunity. In addition to being a work of art, this paint was a piece of history, that revealed the tragedy of the Inquisition. And before him, I think. And in this book is what I was able to say.
