Hayley Wagner, an investigative journalist, returns to her hometown of Drumheller, Alberta, known for its unique Badlands-home to rattlesnakes, black widow spiders, and scorpions-to help a good friend. An archaeologist is found dead, seemingly from a heart attack, and the ensuing investigation leads to ruthless gangs, extortion, organized crime, and murder by chilling means.
