With Governing the common, Ostrom makes an effort to criticize the foundations of political analysis in the way it is applied to many natural resources; introduce empirical examples of successful and unfortunate initiatives for the regularization and administration of these resources; and make an effort to develop better instruments so as to understand the capacities and limits of a self-government institution while controlling different resources.
