Pádraic Ó Conaire (1882-1928) was an Irish novelist and short-story writer, known for his contribution to modern Irish literature. Born in Galway city, Ó Conaire lived through the significant socio-political changes of his time, which shaped his works. He moved to London in 1900, becoming involved with Conradh na Gaeilge and the Irish Volunteers. His writing, influenced by Russian authors, tackled themes of isolation, despair, and societal edge. Despite controversy and personal challenges, his work remains influential.
