This is a study of the royal officers during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. It uses a vast amount of Mexican and Spanish documentation that allows us to reconstruct the characteristics financial administration, the officers control on tax collections and the control the imperial and viceroyalty had over these officials. The most fascinating chapters are about the analysis of these royal officialss career, their family, social and client relationships as well as their own relationships to viceroyalty power.
