A short, simple explanation of figurative language geared to ages 9-12 that will help set him or her up for tackling higher-level (and more imaginative) writing. Essential information and lots of practice examples are provided so students who don't yet have it can really "get the hang" of reading language that is figurative in nature. Best done by students who have completed at least half of fifth grade reading. Using the accompanying learning guide, student will write, as well as interpret, some lively imagery, and will acquire more tools with which to understand writing that is not literal.
