Se hablaba de su inusitado duelo pianistico nada menos que con Jelly Roll Morton, el inventor del jazz... Se decia que el melancolico pianista habia nacido en el barco, del que jamas habria descendido. Se decia que nadie sabia la razon. Un monologo teatral, recientemente llevado al cine por Giuseppe Tornatore con el titulo La leyenda del pianista en el oceano. / In the years between the wars, an ocean liner, the Virginian, travelled the route between Europe and America carrying millionaires, tourists and immigrants. On board the Virginian an extraordinary pianist called Novecento played every night with marvellous technique, capable of hitting magical notes that had never been heard before. They spoke of this rare pianists sorrow as much as that of Jelly Roll Morton, the inventor of Jazz. They said the melancholic pianist was born on the boat, which he had never in his life disembarked. They said nobody knew why.
