In 1932, the International Peace Garden, located on the Canadian and United States border was dedicate to recognize the long standing peace between the two nations.In 1970, The Peace Chapel, located within the Garden was dedicated by the The General Grand Chapters of North Dakota and Manitoba, Order of the Eastern Star. Upon the walls of the Peace Chapel are fifty-nine inscriptions reflecting Peace, Friendship and Hope. These quotes are from philosophers, historians, religious teachers and world leaders. The book, Reflections of Peace, Friendship and Hope contains these quotes, along with more than 25 images taken at the Peace Garden. The book contains a brief history of how the garden was established, as well as how the Peace Chapel came to be.This is Kari Barchenger's third book pertaining to the International Peace Garden. Her first book, published in 2016, Promise of Peace - The International Peace Garden, is the first book ever published about the garden. The second book, Hens and Chicks - The Vitko Collection, was published in 2017 and shares the inspiring story of a boy from Minot North Dakota who started with a packet of seeds and eventually ends up with a world class collection of more than 4,000 different species and 6,500 cacti and succulents that is now housed at the Peace Garden.
