Reseña del libro

'A dangerous calling' is what author Paul David Tripp calls the pastorate. The existing data tell us that Black and Latino Pastors (BALP) are at risk for depression anxiety, obesity, hypertension and loneliness. Curious about these stated realities and noting the absence of data on Black and Latinx pastors, the author and her colleagues undertook a series of investigations that resulted in this book. Saving The Lives of Black and Latino Pastors is the result of individual and group discussions with Latinx and Black church leaders and pastors, on-going literature reviews and two on-line pastoral self-care studies. The goal was to understand what factors determined the decisions that Black and Latinx pastors made about taking care of themselves, while meeting their pastoral duties. After having selected 7 factors that they believed to be most relevant, the writers go on to present a thorough, intriguing and data based education on the psychological, theological, socio-political, economic, cultural and gendered experiences of Latinx and Black communities within the United States. This book not only fills the paucity of research into the private lives of Latinx and Black pastors, but also offers an excellent background in cultural diversity.
