Comparative syntax is a syntactic construction in general linguistics that helps to express a comparison, in quality or degree, between two or more entities or groups of entities. It is the comparative study of the similarities and dissimilarities between the combinatorial systems of languages. Comparative syntax snalysis is complex due to the interaction of various mechanisms. Apart from elementary sound-meaning pairs, the ways in which they are combined into complex units also differ across languages. Comparative syntax also deals with the research on the evidence regarding the general character of the language faculty. This book provides significant information of this discipline to help develop a good understanding of comparative syntax and related fields.
