A collection of both previously published and unpublished short stories, flash fiction, and creative non-fiction. It includes the previously unpublished NZ National Flash Fiction Day longlisted story 'The Woodpecker'. Fairclough's second collection was written during his transition from Masterton 2017 to Obra, Poland 2018 to Richmond, Tasman 2019, where he currently lives with his wife and two boys. Themes range from those of mystery, of signs, of wonder, of strangeness, of beauty, of belonging, of purpose ... to subtle criticism of racism, popular opinion and common behaviour. There's also a very personal piece of creative non-fiction 'Unhomed Angels' written for a special issue of Blue Fifth Review on the theme of 'home'.
