A chance viewing by Mark Byford of a picture in London’s National Gallery has inspired The Annunciation: A Pilgrim’s Quest. The early-eighteenth-century painting by French artist, Francis Lemoyne, shows the encounter between the angel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary.
