Wonderful to be read together aloud, or as a component of a living books homeschool. These short and quickly read stories are a great introduction to classic literature. A joy to read to early readers and an excellent tool for elementary readers to read on their own. Either way, children will delight in these short retellings of literary classics. Columbus, Galileo, Alexander, Hannibal an others come alive. The fall of Troy and the rise of Rome are remembered in this followup to the author's classic "Fifty Famous Stories Retold". The selections here will give not only pleasure, but will continue to build a foundation for broader literary studies. While these volumes are intended as a supplemental reader in the middle primary grades, older children and even adults will find them enlightening.
