Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how a person perceives and interacts with others, leading to problems in social interaction and communication. Limited and repetitive patterns of conduct are also part of the disorder. While autism is a lifelong disease, the extent to which these challenges limit a person's capacity to function varies from person to person.
