I had suffered through five tortuous years as sole caregiver to my husband of 40 years who had Lewy body Dementia. I had grieved every single day, but after he was gone, I no longer had a role. There was only silence and overwhelming pain of loss. I began writing a poem every day and sent them to friends to express what I was experiencing. Writing healed me as I unloaded my pain onto paper. I wrote my way through grief.
