The last day of a database assignment, we had some discussion about cloud computing, which triggered my interest in cloud computing. I was getting amused about cloud capabilities, where you can create VM in a minute, change its dimensions, play with it like playing with a toy. These kinds of things were news for people like us, who have seen, months and months are spent on upgrading the in-house servers. I have seen days where we have to create certain scripts that will kill idle connection on the database server, to get a few MB RAM free for utilization. We use to fight with the development team, asking why they need so much memory for these activities. They use to feel like we are fighting with them for life and death matters. Now it is a cloud, where you can create VM in a minute, with the operating system pre-installed. You have to install the needed software to get your application up and running.
