They are scenes from the everyday. But don’t let that put you off! Readers say they are actually quite entertaining. One even said, ‘they’re a hoot in these dark days’, and it wasn’t even my mum.Q. Why did you write Cake, Anyone?I started writing the stories in Cake, Anyone? during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. I’d been working on another book for a long time, but because of the stress and anxiety of the virus, the words on that project just wouldn’t come. Instead, I wrote about what was happening all around me, focusing on daily life in an extraordinary time.The more I wrote, the more I tried to find the funny things in life, because being able to laugh, or even just smile, seemed to make the dark days a little brighter. I shared the stories on my blog and readers started contacting me saying they enjoyed them.I kept writing and sharing, trying to find the comedy in everyday life during lockdown.
