Tiene una maestría en Lenguas Clásicas. Durante los últimos diez años ha sido profesora de latín, griego y de Shakespeare con estudiantes de secundaria. También ha estudiado Pensamiento Social en la Universidad de Chicago, y en el departamento de dramaturgia del Yale School of Drama, donde se especializó en la adaptación de los textos clásicos a las formas modernas. Actualmente vive en Cambridge, Massachusetts, donde enseña y escribe.
