Foreign Internal Defense Operations, along with Special Reconnaissance and Direct Action, are a core task of the United States Special Operations Community. US Army Special Forces are currently engaged in Foreign Internal Defense operations from Iraq and Afghanistan to Colombia and the Philippines.
