Featuring art created between 2017-2019 this art book charts her progression from teaching herself how to draw to creating one-panel illustration art. La historia de este libro está unida inseparablemente a la de su autor, James O’Barr. Como reveló él mismo, aunque años después de la publicación del cómic, hay una tragedia personal tras la muerte del personaje de Sherri. En 1978, la prometida de O’Barr fue atropellada por un conductor borracho y murió como consecuencia de ello. El autor no supo lidiar con aquella tragedia, ni con el hecho de que el culpable saliera de prisión apenas seis meses después.

Como consecuencia, O’Barr se alistó a los marines y acabó destinado en Alemania, ilustrando ocasionalmente manuales militares de combate. Para dar salida a la rabia que llevaba dentro, comenzó a dibujar The Crow. El cómic, acabado ya, estuvo cogiendo polvo en un cajón hasta 1989, cuando fue publicado por Gary Reed en Caliber Press, aunque sin demasiada fe en el proyecto. Desde entonces The Crow ha vendido más de 750.000 ejemplares en todo el mundo.
