It is one of the most deprived boroughs in East London, but filled with the rich diversity of the many ethnic minorities and the battles that they face daily to survive.After the death of George Floyd, Shola had an 'awakening' and wondered whether having frank, but difficult conversations with various individuals that had influenced her life would bring about equality, understanding and most importantly change. She decided to invent an imaginary app, called 'The ICE app' which allows her to do this through the book.
