Yōko Ogawa nació en Okayama, Japón, en 1962. Es una escritora japonesa reconocida por su estilo delicado y perturbador, que explora la memoria, la pérdida y las emociones humanas más profundas. Estudió Literatura en la Universidad de Waseda y desde 1988 ha publicado más de cincuenta obras de ficción y no ficción.
