The bibliography covers just under 3000 studies with varying theoretical approaches to the question of referential, quantitative and morphological noun determination. These are arranged first alphabetically and then in accordance with a unified thematic ordering system. A brief commentary is given in each case. For English, French and German as languages with article systems an almost complete coverage of the relevant studies was the aim. For other languages, some with entirely different noun determination systems, it was in many cases only possible to register chance bibliographical finds, which should however be of interest for questions pertaining to universal grammar, language typology, contrastive linguistics etc. The volume also contains detailed user aids and a discussion of the present state of research on this subject.
