Meditation is spending quality time with God. During this time, you are reviewing, reflecting and analyzing the word of God. After mediating on the word, application is needed. You must apply it. As you apply the word of God, you are allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal a vision for your personal life and then you capture what has been deposited. Many times we as Christians believe that we can meditate on the word without ever picking up the bible, and the word we think we know isn't quoted in the bible at all. Like, "God helps those who help themselves!" A lot of people really think that's in the bible, but its not. Therefore, we as believers need to get in our word so that we won't be deceived, misguided, but full of wisdom, and fruitful in everything that we do. Meditating in the word is effective because when we go about living our every day life and circumstances arise, its that word that we speak that will change the situation. But if we don't know the word, the situation can't change. As Christians we should be meditating on the word, confessing the word, applying the word, and praising the Lord (with a sound mind) for manifestation of his word in our lives.
