Lawrence Freedman ha sido profesor de Estudios Bélicos en el King’s College de Londres desde 1982, y vicerrector desde 2003. Desde 2009 ha trabajado en la Investigación Oficial del Reino Unido sobre la Guerra de Irak. Es autor de numerosos trabajos sobre estrategia nuclear y sobre la guerra fría, y es comentarista habitual de temas relacionados con la seguridad.
