CHESTERTON (1874 - 1936) In a surreal turn-of-the-century London, Gabriel Syme, a poet, is recruited to a secret anti-anarchist taskforce at Scotland Yard. Lucian Gregory, an anarchist poet, is the only poet in Saffron Park, until he loses his temper in an argument over the purpose of poetry with Gabriel Syme, who takes the opposite view. After some time, the frustrated Gregory finds Syme and leads him to a local anarchist meeting-place to prove that he is a true anarchist. Instead of the anarchist Gregory getting elected, the officer Syme uses his wits and is elected as the local representative to the worldwide Central Council of Anarchists. The Council consisting of seven men, each using the name of a day of the week as a code name; Syme is given the name of Thursday...

G. K. Chesterton (Londres, 29 de mayo de 1874 – Beaconsfield, 14 de junio de 1936) fue un prolífico escritor británico, autor de ensayos, novelas, poesía, biografías y apologética cristiana. Su obra se caracteriza por la ironía, el ingenio paradójico y una visión crítica de la modernidad. Fue un destacado converso al catolicismo y una figura influyente en el pensamiento religioso y literario de su tiempo. Se le conoce también por su estilo argumentativo brillante y por su defensa del sentido común.

Entre sus obras más reconocidas se encuentran El hombre que fue Jueves (1908), Ortodoxia (1908), El candor del padre Brown (1911), Herejes (1905), La esfera y la cruz (1909) y La resurrección de Roma (1930). Cultivó el ensayo, la novela de ideas, el relato policial y la crítica social y religiosa.
