Es Director de Farmacia y Patología en el Hospital Maudsley y Profesor de Psicofarmacología en el King's College de Londres. Desde 1994, ha sido el autor principal y editor de The Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines in Psychiatry, una guía de referencia en la prescripción de psicofármacos, cuya 15.ª edición se publicó en abril de 2025.
