The myth is lived and to reiterate it in the cinema is to make it live for thousands, even millions of spectators, as if they were all present at the moment when the action took place. By considering this major asset, Dani Kouyaté has managed to integrate African myths into the collective consciousness of the general public. In doing so, he developed a technique of repetition based on the mythical figure of the griot and on the orality or poetic word of the Negro-African. Being both a griot and a filmmaker, the author of Keïta! L'héritage du griot and Sia, le rêve du python, thus creates a link between the oral tradition and the modern means of communication. So, through the double historical fiction, how does Dani Kouyaté appropriate the traditional cultural heritage, as a theme and as a technique of narration? This desire to bring Negro-African stories to the world's attention is driven by a vision, that of making films to express the Negro identity in the civilization of the universal. Thus, at a time when globalization is gaining ground, this article highlights the particularities of African film creation.
