Alex Michaelides (Chipre, 1977) estudió Literatura Inglesa y Psicoterapia. Trabajó en una unidad de seguridad para adultos jóvenes, experiencia que le proporcionó material e inspiración para La paciente silenciosa, su primera novela: un thriller traducido en cuarenta países, que cuenta ya con dos millones y medio de lectores en todo el mundo y cuyos derechos cinematográficos han sido comprados por la productora de Brad Pitt; además, ha sido uno de los tres libros ganadores del Premio de los lectores de Goodreads, en el que votan casi cinco millones de personas.
