Raymond Briggs (1934-2022) fue un ilustrador y escritor británico reconocido por sus novelas gráficas y libros infantiles. Su obra más famosa es El muñeco de nieve (1978), una historia sin palabras que se convirtió en un clásico de la literatura infantil y fue adaptada a una película animada en 1982. También destacó con Cuando el viento sopla (1982), una novela gráfica de tono más adulto sobre las consecuencias de un ataque nuclear.

Otros de sus libros incluyen Papá Noel (1973), Papá Noel va de vacaciones (1975) y Ethel & Ernest (1998), basada en la vida de sus padres. Su estilo innovador y su capacidad para abordar tanto la fantasía como temas complejos lo convirtieron en una figura influyente en la literatura ilustrada.
