One day Susan called her mother, Sandy, to tell her something quizzical about her puppy. Tugger, a handsome and always hungry Irish Terrier, would eat anything he found before him; but, the family had discovered, he would not eat a pretzel - no way, no how! And so what began as a curious observation, became a family challenge . . . how to get Tugger to eat a pretzel. The family's attempts and Tugger's refusal led to a comical story in poetry form by the mother/daughter pair. As you read the story, you will begin to wonder, what would change the puppy's mind . . . and that is the crux of the story. Love of family, pets, home and community comes through in their writing and in the colorful and humorous illustrations by Regina Anderson.
