The papacy is clearly the greatest difficulty facing ecumenical dialogue today, and particularly the dialogue between Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Yet there is a doorway of hope. In his encyclical, Ut unum sint, John Paul II expressed a desire for common reflection on the exercise of papal primacy. In You Are Peter the great Orthodox theologian Olivier Clement brilliantly responds to this request. He emphasizes the history and experience of the undivided Church, before recalling the contrasting developments of eastern and western Christianity and concluding with the tasks that call us to unity. Olivier Clément (1921–2009) fue un teólogo y escritor francés, convertido al cristianismo ortodoxo a los treinta años tras una profunda búsqueda espiritual influenciada por autores como Dostoievski y Berdiaev. Profesor en el Instituto de Teología Ortodoxa Saint-Serge de París, se destacó por su compromiso con el diálogo ecuménico y su participación como observador laico en el Concilio Vaticano II. Fue también doctor honoris causa por el Instituto Teológico de Bucarest y la Universidad Católica de Lovaina .

Autor prolífico en los géneros de teología, espiritualidad y ensayo, sus obras más destacadas en español incluyen Aproximación a la oración (1986), La Iglesia Ortodoxa (1990), Dios es simpatía (2011), Los rostros del Espíritu (2015), La alegría de la resurrección (2016), Teopoética del cuerpo (2017) y Cristo, tierra de los vivos (2024) .
