Philip Kerr (1956–2018) fue un escritor escocés reconocido por su serie de novelas negras históricas protagonizadas por el detective Bernie Gunther. Su debut literario fue con Violetas de marzo (1989), seguido por títulos como Pálido criminal (1990), Réquiem alemán (1991) y Unos por otros (2006). Otras obras destacadas incluyen Gris de campaña (2010), Praga mortal (2011) y Metrópolis (2019). Además, escribió novelas independientes como Una investigación filosófica (1992) y Materia oscura (2002), y la serie juvenil Children of the Lamp bajo el seudónimo P. B. Kerr.
