Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the clinical condition, which results in blurred vision or vision loss at the center of the visual field, due to a damage to the macula. Such a loss of central vision can make it difficult to recognize faces, read, drive or perform activities of daily life. Visual hallucinations are also common in people with this condition. It typically occurs in older people, but may be prevented by exercising and adhering to a good diet. Depending on the severity of AMD, it can be early, intermediate and late AMD.
