Es doctora en literatura latinoamericana por la Universidad de Pittsburgh y actualmente es profesora en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, donde trabaja como investigadora en el área de nuevos medios y literatura y, entre otras cosas, enseña escritura creativa y semiótica de los géneros contemporáneos. En 2006 ganó el Premio Clarín de Novela con Arte menor, su primer libro, y ese mismo año el Fondo Nacional de las Artes de Argentina distinguió Juegos de playa con el segundo premio del Certamen Nacional de Libros de Cuentos. Con Las poseídas ganó el VIII Premio Tusquets Editores de Novela.
