The pernicious fatalism of alcoholism, the inspiring power of a child's fantasy to cope, and a Jungian stream of consciousness journey into a Nineteenth Century black man's spiritual vault to evolve beyond slavery. As divergent as these three stories appear, they depict a common theme: cope, adapt, evolve, or perish. David Wakes Up occurs during the first fifteen minutes of a man awakening from an alcoholic stupor. The story examines the conflict of man against himself and alcoholism. Vox, an apparent children's yarn, applies a basic maxim: be watchful of unknowns meaning well, as they are capable of great damage. The Evolution is a "trip" through a psyche, a snapshot of archetypes if they could converse and what could be the nascent seeds of evolution.
