Reseña del libro "Climbing Out of Chaos: Inside Lehman Brothers After 9/11: Survival, Leadership, and the Limits of Resilience (en Inglés)"
On September 6, 2001, Edward Donohue stood before Lehman Brothers' senior leadership and warned that the Firm was unprepared for a major business disruption. His proposal to strengthen business continuity planning was tabled for future consideration.Five days later, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. As the executive responsible for Lehman's Business Continuity Planning and Corporate Security functions, Donohue found himself at the center of one of the most consequential events in modern history. From the evacuation of thousands of employees to dangerous recovery missions into Lehman's damaged headquarters, he witnessed firsthand how ordinary people responded when confronted with extraordinary circumstances.Yet Climbing Out of Chaos is far more than a story about September 11.It is a story about leadership under pressure, the consequences of risks ignored, and the remarkable resilience of people determined to overcome seemingly impossible challenges. It is the story of colleagues who became heroes, families who endured uncertainty and loss, and a financial institution fighting for survival after suffering devastating damage only steps from Ground Zero.Spanning both Lehman's improbable recovery after 9/11 and its eventual collapse seven years later, Donohue offers a unique insider's perspective on two defining events of the twenty-first century. Along the way, he explores broader questions about preparedness, decision-making, luck, faith, gratitude, and the fragile line that often separates survival from tragedy. Most importantly, this is a deeply personal memoir.Over twenty-five years of reflection, Donohue came to realize that the most enduring lessons of September 11 had little to do with Wall Street and everything to do with family, friendship, and purpose. What began as a book about disaster recovery ultimately became an exploration of what remains after life changes forever. For readers interested in: September 11 and its aftermathCorporate crisis leadershipBusiness continuity and disaster recoveryWall Street and Lehman BrothersResilience in the face of adversityFamily, gratitude, and finding purposeClimbing Out of Chaos offers a powerful and deeply human account of survival, recovery, and the search for meaning in the years that followed. All net author proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which honors the sacrifice of first responders and military heroes by supporting their families, providing mortgage-free homes to those in need, and preserving the legacy of September 11.
