What is it to persevere in the Christian life? Simply stated, it is to walk as Christ walked or as Christ would have us walk. The apostle John says, "He that saith he abideth in him [i.e. Christ] ought himself also so to walk, even as he [Christ] walked" (1 Jn 2:6). Every true believer will seek to follow Christ because of the Spirit of Christ dwelling in him. Therefore every true believer will want to know how Christ wants him to live and how He lived. He will seek to imitate Him and to obey Him.

How may we know how Christ walked? We may not know by imagining what Christ would do in any situation in life, as some think. Instead, we must know how he walked by studying the Scripture to see our Saviour's attitude and response in the various situations and demands we may fall under.

This is the reason for this little book. It covers, in twenty-five short chapters, various aspects of following and imitating Christ, such as being righteous, holy, kind, meek, obedient and loving as He was; and praying, forgiving, sowing and reaping as He did.
