After high school, he went on to receive an associate degree in electronics. At age fifty-four, he earned a bachelor's in general studies where he learned about chemistry, Christianity, and achieved a double minor in math and psychology. Additionally, Koch worked for thirteen years as a broadcast technician in TV and radio.
