The aim of this work was to characterize the soil used as a foundation for the Palmas - TO landfill, which suffered a fire in part of the urban solid waste containment cell. The physical, chemical and mineralogical characterization tests were carried out on three different samples: one with no interference from the fire, taken as a blank sample, one with little intensity and duration of the fire and the last with greater intensity and duration of the fire. The results were compared and showed that the samples had undergone changes of all kinds, with the latter being predominantly more intense. The physical tests showed more significant results in relation to the action of the fire, especially for the specific mass of the grains. The chemical tests also showed changes, but these can be associated with the contact between the material and the waste present inside the cell. The mineralogical results showed no significant changes between the samples.
