The story began in Modulus, first book in the series, when Steve Holbrook sought who destroyed his planet and why/how that was done. The story continued in Far Modulus, second book in the series, in which many of the characters introduced in the first book return. The villain of the first book escaped justice only to be caught by intelligent non-human creatures who learned of Earth from him. They are carnivores, and hungry. Earth is placed in great peril as the creatures attack with superior technology. In this, the third book in the series, the principle characters of the first two books return to try and negotiate alliance. Humanity must set aside factional differences and unite to resist the threat from beyond human space, decide how to organize themselves and make a last stand against the aggressors near Aldebaran, in the Taurus constellation.
