Solvej Balle (nacida el 16 de agosto de 1962 en Bovrup, Dinamarca) es una destacada escritora danesa conocida por su estilo literario innovador y filosófico. Estudió literatura y filosofía en la Universidad de Copenhague y asistió a la Escuela de Escritores (Forfatterskolen) entre 1987 y 1989. Durante su juventud, vivió en varios países, como Francia, Australia, EE. UU. y Canadá, lo que influyó profundamente en su visión literaria.

Debutó en 1986 con Lyrefugl, una novela tipo robinsonada, y consolidó su estilo con obras como &, (1990) y Ifølge loven (1993), donde explora temas existenciales con lenguaje preciso y experimental. Su proyecto más ambicioso es Om udregning af rumfang (Sobre el cálculo del volumen), una serie de siete volúmenes sobre una mujer atrapada en un solo día del tiempo, por la cual recibió el Premio de Literatura del Consejo Nórdico en 2022.

Balle también trabajó como editora en la revista literaria Den blå port y desde 2005 reside en la isla de Ærø, donde continúa su labor creativa. Su obra desafía las formas narrativas convencionales y se centra en el tiempo, la identidad y la existencia humana con profundidad filosófica.
