Born into a home where anger and sudden retaliation are admirable qualities, becoming the predator once I got into the prison came to me naturally. My life and experience as a prisoner has offered me the opportunity to witness firsthand the heart wrenching realization that bed of thorns is a luxury not to hope for in prison. - What troubles me the most is how so many young black souls such as myself are sitting in a cage for being a youthful fool without proper wings to fly while jumping out the nest as a naïve baby bird falling to our own demise. Most of us prisoners have been misguided, misinformed and bred with a mentality that's utterly abstract from what is righteous - This notion of proactively trying to keep criminals off the streets slogan is simply political hogwash and a smokescreen because the irony of all this is - crime and criminals are big business for everyone and quite frankly it keeps a lot of people employed. The coexistence of prisoners and prison workers is a stalwart of a web that requires specialization and perseverance on the prisoner's side, ready to accept every punishment, humiliation as lack of freedom and choice is the norm. Shattered by Shackles is a guiding tool and an eye opener for all to see the truth behind the shades politicians cast in the name of public safety, the acts of terror within prison walls between inmates and the law as well as between inmates alike.
