This book offers a broad overview of the current research landscape where artificial intelligence techniques intersect with underlying silicon chip technology, highlighting how AI techniques are being harnessed to elevate the capabilities of silicon hardware. AI has great potential to revolutionize our lives, yet it also faces unique challenges in computing hardware, efficient computation and related power dissipation. Given the rapid pace of AI development and the breadth of ongoing research, this book focuses on the silicon hardware platform on which all AI development are being built. We will discuss new silicon chip developments from companies like Nvidia, AMD, Arm, Intel, and others that are being used by the AI ecosystem (OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Google, Apple, xAI, and others).
