Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB) are primary source of sugar consumption and the proportion of people consuming SSBs are steadily increasing. The health concerns of sugar-sweetened beverages are well known, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and dental caries. However, the effect of sugar-sweetened beverages consumption on bone health, which is difficult to confirm with the naked eye and progresses slowly, did not gain much attention.This book comprehensively covers the effects of sugar-sweetened beverages consumption on bone mineral density, bone mineral contents and bone fracture in not only children but also adults. Most of the studies on the association between sugar-sweetened beverages and bone health published so far through systematic review of the literature were included, and through meta-analysis, we found that the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages was associated with lower bone density.
