At first she stuffed her trauma deep inside.. But somehow she tried again. She married and raised two children. However, it took until she was in her late 70's, with the help of intense therapy. before she could come face to face with her past. She still has flashbacks. Currently she is working to share her experience and demonstrate with words, how she has had to cope with the memories and the lessons about relating to men, feeling like a second class citizen. This book by Ms Ariel Rose, is only the beginning of creating awareness about the issues facing women in this white male dominated society.. Domination of women is a power trip laid on women by men. Rape is about the politics of keeping women down.. Many people in our society still feel that women who are raped, "asked for it". It is only by women raising their voices that that myth can be dispelled. Ms. Rose is raising her voice in the hopes that other survivors will someday feel inspired to raise their voices and share their experience, so that others will know that they are not alone. and there is hope to be able to heal, as much as possible, from from the insanity making experience of rape and molestation.... . .
