With each tune, you will be invited to develop and refine the skills of chord reading, improvisation, backing up other players and playing by ear in a way that will prove relevant to classroom music teachers and fiddle players alike. The method includes videos of online instruction and play along tracks, providing a unique opportunity for the user to learn and practice in the privacy of their own home and learn to play like an authentic "fiddler." The tools provide for limitless play back opportunities which can be used to help the learner learn to improvise and create their own variations. IT is a great way for a learner to practice jamming, or what we call "playing well with others." The Savage Fiddler Method is now finding a home in the public school curriculum, allowing teachers to access certain national standards of teaching music that may have felt too abstract to teach in a classroom and assess. Viola and cello arrangements of the method can also be ordered for use in the classroom. It is an exciting time for the string player who has a diverse body of skills and a demanding job for any teacher of these students. Our students may go on to play in an orchestra, but it is much more likely that they will find a place in a band, a recording studio, a jam circle or a behind a console. The Savage Fiddler Method is designed for the 21st Century string player, using technology to relay skills that our students will need to know in order to continue enjoying their instrument in both professional and amateur settings.
