War and "The Second Coming" have erupted in Nis. The hammers of the Orange Light led by Kai Aphas, a former prisoner of Nis, have rained down upon the Tribe of Shadows intent on exterminating everyone beneath the surface. Secretly, Virgil, a Hy-mun from the surface, and Dan-te, an emissary from the Remnant of the Tribe have followed the Hammers back to Nis to stop Tanas's Third Great Attempt before it destroys them all.
