For more than two long years, Annie and Sini spend their days confined to a tiny, cramped upstairs room in the remote farmhouse. Through the eyes of a child, Reiss chronicles the overwhelming boredom, the constant terror of discovery during Nazi inspections, and the emotional strains of isolation. Ultimately, it is a magnificent, uplifting tribute to the ordinary people who showed extraordinary humanity in the face of absolute evil.
